Year 5 parents meeting presentation

My name is Mrs Boorer. I have been working alongside the Weyford team for nearly four years. My time at Weyford started as a volunteer, it was then that I realised becoming a Teaching Assistant was definitely for me, I haven’t looked back. I have three children (all boys) who has a keen passion for fishing, horse riding and football. My hobbies include spending time down my families yard as I too love being around the horses. I enjoy spending time with all my family and friends and taking our dog on lots of walks. I am really looking forward to September to seeing all the children again and watching them grow even more.

Hello! I’m Mrs Brown and I am really looking forward to being your Teaching Assistant again this year. I have been at Weyford Nursery and Primary School for 16 years and have worked in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. I live at home with my husband and 2 of my 3 grown up children. I also share my home with a Westie, a rabbit, a tortoise, 3 gerbils, a hamster and lots of fish. As you can tell, we all love our animals! In my spare time I love baking and cake decorating, reading books (especially ones based on real life) and playing board games with my family. I can’t wait to start our Year 5 journey together in September.

Hello. My Name is Mrs Webber and I have been teaching at Weyford for a long time - over 20 years. I am primarily a class teacher who has taught all year groups in KS2 However, my other role in school includes being the English lead across the primary school. The subjects I particularly enjoy teaching are History and Geography, as well as English My hobbies include socialising with friends and family, reading a good book and I enjoy going on holidays with my family. You can also find me doing Bootcamp, in the park, early on a Saturday morning. I love working with the children and especially watching them grow in confidence when rising to new challenges and opportunities given. I am very much looking forward to working with you all soon.

Hello My name is Mrs Darling. I am looking forward to being the Teaching Assistant in Heron and having an exciting year. I have been in Weyford since 2001 and I have worked with Year 5 and Year 6 for 16 years. Born on a small farm in Ireland I love animals and being outdoors. I have one sister. I went to a boarding school for 6 years and enjoyed all sports. I hold the school record for the 800 metres. Before moving to England, I worked in a hotel and a large exhibition centre. I married Geoff, who was a captain in the Merchant Navy, and I did several trips with him. The most exciting being going through Panama Canal. We have one daughter, Carol, who is an urban designer. Outside school, I am a Brownie Leader with 3rd Bordon Brownies in Whitehill and a qualified Girlguiding Trainer, training leaders so they can be inspired with new ideas for their girls. I was lucky to be awarded the County Gold award for my services to Girlguiding. Art, gardening and walking are my hobbies. I love to display your work in exciting and imaginative ways. My goal for next year is for everyone in my class to have fun and learn lots.

Hello, I am Mrs Telford and I have taught at Weyford since February 2017. I came in to help year 6 with SATs and I enjoyed teaching here so much that I stayed. Although I am the mathematics manager I enjoy teaching the other subjects, particularly history because I am interested in finding out about what happened in the past. My hobbies outside school include reading, cooking recreational cricket and taking my dog for a walk along the beach, near to where I live. I love working with children and particularly like it when they have a lightbulb moment during their learning. I and am passionate about raising standards and being part of the team that drives our school forward.

Poetry Competition

During this half term, the whole school is taking part in a poetry competition.

You will learn a poem off by heart and then perform it to the rest of the year group. One child/group will be chosen to perform their poem in the whole school final on 13th February.

You have now chosen your poem and decided if you will work on your own or in a group.

Please can you work on learning your poem off by heart this week. If you are in a group, make sure you know which lines you need to learn.

Good luck!                           Mrs Webber and Mrs Telford

If you are unsure of anything, please come and see us on Friday at lunchtime.

We will be checking on your progress next Tuesday (21st January).

Well done to Katie for an amazing piece of home learning

In Science today we have been finding out about soluble and insoluble materials. Something that dissolves is soluble, that means that when it is mixed with water, it cannot be seen, although it is still in the water. We made it a fair test by making sure we used the same amount of water and the same amount of each material.
