‘Working Together for Excellence’

Year 4

Good morning Year 4,

I hope you’ve had a lovely sunny Easter and haven’t eaten too much chocolate!

The way we communicate with you will be slightly different than before the holidays. This week I will be sending all the work to all of year 4 and next week Miss Cragg will send all the work. This will then repeat. Please send any questions you have about the work to the teacher who emailed you.

As your packs have started running out, we have planned this week differently. We have created a sheet which has ideas for English, maths and topic for the whole week. Included in the attachments are models for how your child might like to solve the maths problems and the resources to help you complete the topic tasks.

We have suggested maths and English activities for each day of the week but you don’t have to do it on the stated day or at all if you feel it is too much for your child at the moment (just make sure you do the tasks in day order). You can do the topic activities whenever you like. Each day I will give a bit more detail for each task we suggest to help you at home.

We will send out your fiction express logins as the week continues. Try and have a go at some form of reading each day.

The work can be recorded however you and your child prefer. You could have a work notebook, do it on separate pieces of paper or type some of it on the computer. Feel free to send photos/emails of your completed work to your own teacher as you complete tasks. We’d also love to see photos of more active learning-PE, baking, walks etc.

For maths today, have a go at Monday’s task from the ‘week 1’ document. Have a look at Monday on the ‘maths methods’ document to give suggestions of how you could complete this task.

For English today, have a look at the ‘English picture’ document and then try Monday’s task from the ‘week 1’ document.

Adjectives are words that describe nouns e.g magnificent turtle.

Noun phrases are the adjectives and nouns put together e.g. magnificent turtle.

Expanded noun phrases are noun phrases with extra information using ‘with’ to add the details e.g. the magnificent turtle with beady black eyes

If you would like to try some topic today, have a go at task 1 from the ‘week 1’ document. Use the ‘Andy Goldsworthy artwork task 1’ document to do this.

Have a great day! Feel free to email me any questions.

Miss Fraser J

Good morning year 4,

I hope you (and your families) are all well.

Congratulations! You have made it to the Easter holidays! You have worked so hard, we have decided to give you two weeks off from school work. wink

It feels very different not to be spending the last day of term with you all. Although we won't be emailing you daily with your to do list over your time off, we would still very much like to hear from you.

We will be setting two Easter challenges, we will share those a bit later.

For now, here is your list of today's work:

Writing pack: Up-level sentences (Bustling Bradley market)

Reading pack: Human body

Spelling pack: 10

Maths pack: 3&4

As it is the end of the term, some big Friday dances today to celebrate! I'm looking at you Cuckoo class (but Lapwing are very welcome). I would love some photos or videos of this.

Take care of yourselves!

Love

Miss Cragg and Miss Fraser x

So, it's Thursday!

It would have been the been the second to last day of the spring term. That feels a little bit odd. It would usually be the day where we would finish all of our maths and English work so we could do something slightly more fun on the Friday.

We had a virtual staff meeting last night. It was good to see all the other teachers and talk to them for a bit. It is strange for all of us not seeing each other every day.

As it the next two weeks are Easter, we won't be setting you any daily learning but we will be setting a couple of challenges for you!

So on to today's work:

Writing pack: The pirate scene. We want you to plan and write a story based on the picture. Think about all the important writing features we have learnt this year. Please send us your stories. We really enjoy reading them.

Spelling pack: activity 9

Maths pack (the maths activity pack): Page 1 and 2.

Topic: Completing the Top Trump cards

Let us know how you are getting on.

Miss Cragg and Miss Fraser
