In the last week of term we have been making our own volcanoes out of newspaper and papier mache and we have been decorating them using paint. We have also made scratch paintings of an erupting volcano.
On Tuesday 19th March we worked in small groups to create a news report. This gave us a better understanding of how news reports are put together, using introductions, direct speech, reported speech and conclusions.
On Friday we walked around the school collecting all the sounds we could hear on a normal school day. This helped us write our own poem 'The Sound Collector returns'.
We had great fun on World Book Day (Thursday 7th March), dressing up as Roald Dahl characters and exploring some scenes from his books through Drama.
25.2.18 In DT we have been designing and building lamps for our book corner. We have used our learning of circuits and conductors (from Science) to help us.
15.2.18 To finish off our unit of work on the Iron Man, we created this mixed media collages of what we thought he looked like.

11.1.19 Today we had our hook day on our new topic, Electricity. We explored how electricity is used in the 21st century; created a simple circuit using components and discovered how pioneers of Electricity changed how we live.
10.1.19 Today we finished off our science experiment. We were investigating what material was the best thermal insulator.
8.1.19 Lapwing were honing their measuring skills in maths, calculating the perimeter of our classroom.

Welcome back !! I hope you are refreshed and ready to go as this is a super exciting but demanding half term. We are starting our swimming lessons on Wednesday 9th January and this will continue for the whole term..good luck everybody
23.11.18 Lapwing class had great fun designing our Arctic vessels for our trip to Svalbard. We investigated waterproof materials, designed them using examples and built our vessels using our previous learning.
On Friday 19th October Year 4 enjoyed celebrating Diwali Day with art activities, drama and dancing
On Thursday 18th October Year 4 had so much fun creating our mixed media Titanic art works, inspired by Gustav Klimt.
Year 4 had great fun playing their board games on Monday 15th October. The children had to create a game inspired by the Titanic that could have been played on board the ship. Mr Clarke and Miss Rhodes were so impressed with the quality of the games.
Year 4 had great fun on Tuesday during our Titanic topic morning. We learnt about one of the youngest crew members on board HMS Titanic; we measured how long the Titanic and the iceberg were and experienced the conditions of the different class passengers.
